Sun Protection Factors

Different take a different amont of time to burn in the sun. If it takes you 20 minutes to before you start to burn then this is your burn factor. A sun Protection factor gives you the amount of times protection. That means if it takes you 20 minutes to burn then a protion factor of 10 will mean 10 times protion, so it will take you 200 minutes ( or about 3 hrs ) before you start to burn. If you go swimming then you might wash off the sun screen and burn straight away.

After you have been in the water you must put the sun screen back on.

Sun scrrens come in lots of factors 5,10, 15 20, 25, 30 up to 50.

UV Rays

UV Rays are the things that cause you to burn. The atmosphere stops some of it going through. It is the UV Rays that cause you to burn and that causes skin cancer.

Sun Hats

Sun hats protect your head neck and ears from getting burned. The hats come in all shapes and sizes. Anyone can wear them.

Everyone should wear one.

Sun Protective Clothing

This special clothing will protect you from the UV rays. Covering up is as good as sun screen except it lasts even in the water.
