Organ Lessons

Mark and I are starting to learn how to play the church organ. My favourite piece is Widor's Toccata from Symphony No 5. Link or maybe Tuba Tune by C S Lang.

I am trying to visit and play as many organs as I can. Visit my played organ page

Paul at the Walker organ

First Recital

My first solo on the organ was on Christmas Eve 2005 to a fully packed church with only a little standing room left. I played Silent Night. 3 verses. The first was very good but in the middle of the last one I kicked the toe piston and Simon had to come and rescue me by pulling out the correct stops.

I have played on several church organs. Two of them at St Mary's, the Walker which is a pipe organ that is being restored and the electronic Makin one.

I managed to play on the organ at Our Lady Queen of all Creation when Michael got married. (opposite)

We are very lucky to have our own three manual at home to play on and two other Yamaha organs to make other sounds. Dad has a Yamaha HS8 and a Yamaha HS4, which are connected to the computer. He has several different organs on the computer which are fun to play. Sometimes we link the laptop to the organs and can play many difficult pieces via the midi.
